Don't Remove
School Capacity
From MCPS

Montgomery County schools like Magruder, Richard Montgomery, Quince Orchard, Gaithersburg, Churchill and others are already overcrowded. A plan before the MCPS Board of Education would eliminate thousands of planned seats from our school system by closing Wootton HS and using the future Crown HS for Wootton students instead of the aforementioned surrounding communities. Every cluster in mid-county will feel the impact for decades.

The Petition

We, the undersigned Montgomery County residents, already see overcrowding in our schools and expect it to get worse if planned capacity is removed. We call on the Board of Education to reject the Superintendent's plan that removes additional school capacity from MCPS by closing Wootton HS, thereby exacerbating overcrowding in surrounding schools like Gaithersburg HS, Richard Montgomery HS, Quince Orchard HS, Rockville HS, Churchill HS, and Magruder HS.

Montgomery County's schools are already overcrowded. Removing capacity now is unacceptable and irresponsible.
